F24G landing gear struts...

Post by OldOOwl@aol.com »

'Hi All!
Progress is being made on F24G NC19105. I remember someone asking about
the overhaul of the main landing gear struts...but did not archive the message.
Does anyone know of a shop where these struts can be overhauled??

Thanks!!

'Richard, I can replace the barrels pistons If I have your castings
off each ends.

other than that there is only a seal and rubber bumper at the gland
end.

'Thanks Tom!
I think getting the castings off is where Dan got stuck.
Next week I'll get back up to the hangar and will take stock of the nature
of the dilemma.
I asked Santa for a set of new struts....but my prior convictions remain a
problem.

'Box them up and send them up here, they will look like new when you
get them back. Getting the castings off needs to be done in my lathe
so's I can get proper measurements.

'There's a guy named Charlie Bell in Florida, who's an absolute guru on the F24's. He can repair & overhaul the struts & make them better than new.I had him do my mains & tailwheel & they're excellent. Email him through his wife Donna at: flylady3@cfl.rr.com. Tell him Steve from Germany recommended him!

Cheers!
