F24 stuff in Texas

Post by Chief Russell »

'You ever attend Texas AAA events at Gainesville-? May bring the F24 down
next June; I usually fly the OTW to that event-!

'Dick: I haven't done the Gainesville fly-in, but hear it's a good
event. It used to be held at Denton many moons ago and that was always
one of the better antique events in this area. The Gainesville airport
is just a few miles south of the Texas - Oklahoma border and is
comfortably outside the DFW Class B airspace, but close enough to the
DFW area where you can drive to the big airport in less than an hour,
traffic permitting. The airport itself is huge, I think it was a
military training base back in the day, but doesn't have much activity
anymore. I'm hoping my airplane will be done by then, but I'm not
certain of this. If you make it down, please let me know and I'll look
forward to meeting you there.

aeromatic props back in production (but not repair)

Post by dcasali »

'I occasionally check Kent Tarver's web site ( http://www.aeromatic.com )
. Today I found the following notice (dated, I think, 6 November)

I AM FINALLY CERTIFIED TO MANUFACTURE NEW AEROMATIC BLADES

At the present time I am ramping up for production. I have
several hundred used F200 hubs. I have only about six or eight
220 hubs. These hubs will be NDT'd for damage, they will be
inspected to the drawing. There will be no such thing as
oversize or undersize parts in these Aeromatic propellers.
Therefore the propellers will be virtually new.

There is much more info and pictures, and prices on the site. And fairly
far below, a note:

//

/NOTICE; I am not accepting repair work until further notice /

_*Kent Tarver 775 423 0378*_

//

So, how much difference does an aeromatic prop make on a Warner powered
Fairchild?

'Dan: I don't know how much difference an Aeromatic will make on a
Warner powered airplane, but the difference on the Ranger powered
airplane (5-10 mph in cruise, 150 - 200 fpm in climb) is substantial
enough for me that I ordered a nice new prop from Kent. His supply of
F220 hubs is really low, so I sent him a hub I had already bought and
he will rebuild it and mate it to a set of new blades. We're still
talking about the $$$, but I think it's going to end up being a little
north of $4000, which is a lot of money for a prop, but that particular
prop does a lot of things well and looks great on the airplane, so
maybe it's a fair trade-off.

Hopefully some of the Warner gurus on this board will have more
information than I regarding what the Aeromatic does for performance on
the round nose airplane.
