Re: W-670 conversion for F-24?
'Opposite engine rotation will change some rudder trim, but not stability. M14P doesn’t really fit anyway, too long. Read what I wrote. Re: W-670 conversion for F-24?
'Mark D. -- Hell yes, it has been done. The F24 has also been STC’d for the 245 Jacobs. These conversions look a bit clunky, as the engines are quite a bit larger in diameter than the Warner, and the cowls don’t match the profile of the fuselage very well. The Continental is 6 inches larger in diame...

Re: Shoulder Harness Addition
'Thanks Jamie. Need some clarifications. What is “aft beam”. Attached pic not very instructive. I, personally, can’t see through wood, so cannot see the “4130 clamps”. I take it by 4130, you’re referring to the tube across “aft beam”, which is also not visible. Anybody else out there got pics of the...

Shoulder Harness Addition
'Hey guys, can any of you tell me pretty close to exactly what parts to order to install shoulder straps in the front seats of my F24W41-A. Thanks for any info on the parts or installation details (photos, sketches) you can provide.

Re: PT-23 Shimmy
'Isn’t the answer to make sure, 1) there aren’t any worn parts with excessive play, 2) make sure tailwheel geometry is right – plenty of trail – that is the distance from where the pivot axis touches the ground to where the wheel touches the ground – more trail is better, and finally 3) keep the wei...

Re: V main gear towbar
'Unless you are moving a lot of airplanes in a short time, and seldom detach the towbar from the tow vehicle, wheels on a tow bar are a PITA. If you are just pulling your airplane out of the hangar and out to the lane between the hangars or whatever, you will simply detach the towbar, fold it and pu...

Re: V main gear towbar
'Airy, There is nothing magic about making the tow vehicle to main distance the same as the distance from the mains to the tailwheel. The main thing on tow bar length is to get the tow vehicle end out beyond whatever part of the airplane it is in front of the mains, so the tow vehicle does not conta...

Re: V main gear towbar
'The towbar might be a little heavy if you make it from 2” square x .063. At 12 feet, it might weigh at least 45 pounds when you are done. Do you plan to use it in compression? i.e. to push the airplane as well as pull? Your 2” square tube is a great selection for compression, but you could use a lo...
