Re: Thanks for adding & first question on F24R Brakes/Master cylinde

'Dirk, After overhauling my master cylinders twice trying to get it right, I've found the Raybestos MK 1 kit (found at Napa stores) will go together the easiest and I believe its right for the F24 brake system. There are two Master cylinder kits mentioned in the achieves; The MK33 and MK1. Since you...

Re: Landing gear bushings

'Excellent Matt, You nailed it. Thanks for taking the time to write a lengthy reponse. The old (bronze?) bushing just removed were kinda oval shaped and actually look like their made from material that just wasn't tough enough. It looks like I have some issues with fuselage lugs also. I can see at l...

Re: Landing gear bushings

'Jim I don't have drawing 40249 on my CD even though the manuals make reference to that number. Just not on my CD. I do have drawing 40462 and you can kinda see were the bushing goes, but no dimensions. As far a being in a hurry, that particular phrase was dropped from my vocabulary about five years...

'Hey group, Seriously looking for Temco R46 left gear leg. The surface corrosion is just a bit too much for me. Any response would be greatly appreciated. You know I've had this plane for 5 years now, I swear I don't have more than 10 hours flying time, It's like fly an hour, then tear into it for 3...

Re: Torque - again I'm afraid

'Frank, I've never come across a torgue for these bolts. The center metal tube of the shock absorber takes the compression when tightening, not the rubber. I quess all a guy has when tightening these bolts is the "old mechanics" rule.. "Not too tight" "Not too loose". Se...

Re: F24 Ranger Carb question

'Egon, The type certificate for the Ranger Engine (TCDS No.216) calls for either a Stromberg NAR-4B, or Marvel MA4-5.The Stromberg settings, and part numbers, are in the Stromberg Float Carburetor Specification Sheet (8038) that is specific to the C5 Ranger Engine. I have that sheet but it's way ove...

Re: F24 Wing Struts

'Jim, Surely you've run across the short paragraph in the Rigging and lubrication manual that states, " There are no established tensions for the rigging of the internal wing brace wires. They are rigged per standard practice. Tensions of the two wires in any one bay are balanced to bring that ...
