Re: Unknown Ranger v-p prop

Hello czar35, Thank you for posting your photo and for your reply last August. I do not know how I missed seeing your message earlier and I must apologize for my delay in replying. Which Model 24 is this? Very smart colour scheme. Thank you the confirmation on Hartzell. Old company adverts I found o...

Unknown Ranger v-p prop

The attached pics are of an ex-Cornell Ranger in a museum store in Uruguay.
Does anyone recognize the mechanism - perhaps Hartzell?
I understand some Grumman G-44 Widgeons have v-p props, is this anything like the the arrangement seen in these pics?

Re: 2 digit squadron code markings

'David,147HO was built as a PT-23 , serial No. 42-49123 and appears to have served mainly at a contract primary school at Lafayette, LA.  As far as I can tell there are no accident reports for 42-49123.
I am sending you a P.M. with a more detailed reply.Tony'

Re: 2 digit squadron code markings

'David,Curt is correct, the "school no." never appears on the AAF record card.  I have the USAAF Fairchild PT individual aircraft record cards and am sure I have never seen it recorded on any one of them. There is no guarantee that a particular aircraft carried the same school no. througho...

Re: pilot training time in PTs

'Charles and all those interested, I have looked through my resources today and compiled the following... The hours flown at the primary/elementary stage were not a constant throughout W.W.2.  Both the actual sylabus and the duration of the course were altered on several occasions.  These changes mi...

Warner engine on Barnstormers, October 2018

' I know nothing of the condition or quality of the engine question and I have no connection or contact with the seller.... I receive the Barnstormers e-mail each week to search for interesting and historical Fairchild items - not that I am in any position to buy any!  It just helps to keep my lists...

Re: Fwd: Request for Aircraft Records - Commit

'To Tony (Lowe),I have looked at what I have on the impressed 24W-40s and drawn a blank.  Two were definitely impressed for use by the USAAF, but c/n 136 was not one of those. It is reported in various publications that 13 Model 24W-40s were impressed by the U.S. Navy as GK-1 with Bu Nos. 7032/7034, ...

Tony,
I will check what I have on the impressed F-24s and get back to you.  If it was impressed and served with the USAAF there should be an individual record card for it.  Perhaps then we will be able to find the unit it was assigned to.

Errol,
I am afraid the forwarded message does not show on the forum page.

I can probably help you.

I sent a email to you via the museum's contact page.  If you got it, please get back to me via the address I used.
Cheers, Tony
