Re: Auto Fuel in Continental W670-6A

' I’ve been watching this thread awhile and kept my mouth shut because a lot of people have strong opinions. The Peterson STC for MOGAS usually specifies using 100LL every fourth fillup or mixing 25% LL each tank to keep the valve seats happy. If you talk to those guys they’ll explain what “lead ...

Re: Engine Oil

' I used 120 aeroshell in two engines. I run my Ranger at about 1950 rpm at cruise and, generally, the engine runs cool. I experienced stuck rings due to carbon fouling quite a bit along with fouled plugs. This might be just that I run the engine cool. I have a new Antique Aero Engine rebuild now ...

Re: Propeller options for Ranger???

'My Ranger powered Great Lakes is still being pulled through the sky by a
Sensenich prop that was originally built in 1947! Hard to beat that kind of

Re: Ranger overhaul cost.

'I had an overhaul done by Joe Denest in 2006 - about $12K.

Just had a recent overhaul by Brad Ball (Antique Aero Engines) - right at
$23K

Re: Ranger Engine Parameters

'Wondering who did the o'haul. My freshly redone (Antique Aero) C-5 runs
about the same oil temp as yours. Brad Ball says not to worry about that
temp with his rebuilds. I don't have a cht gauge.

'Oversized studs are a pain because of the different sized nuts you'll
encounter next time you remove the cover. I've gone the helicoil route with
good success.

'I shipped my engine from Oregon to Santa Paula and back in a wooden crate
and wooden frame mount. About $350 each way.
