Thanks for the input....still scratching my head, though...
The airbox appears to be the same as a PT-19, and thus extends too far aft for the short nose- overlaps the carb elbow...
The Carb elbow is identical to the PT-19 -

'Anyone have the Scott Tailwheel installed on their 37 short nose? - The Fairbanks airplane has one installed, but the cables on this one are swaged onto the rudder cables, and the swages are snagging on the lower fuselage tubing - anyone have this issue?

Prepping the 1937 "short nose" C8F here in Fairbanks for return to service....and we have a mystery on the airbox to Carb connection- it has the stromberg carburetor. As you can see the air tube from the bottom of the Carburetor does not line up with the Airbox....
Is this the wrong airbox ...

I teach in a PT-19 in Camarillo Ca.....and I would be very interested in learning about this assist lever - the only complaint I have about the airplane is that it is cumbersome (especially for new students) to reach down far enough to activate the flaps- in the front pit ...

Thanks for the input, we figured out that the bearings are just pressed into the tubes. I fashioned a soft pine 1 by 2 with a yoke that just fit the vertical on the inboard pedal, then a couple of good taps with an 8 pound ball peen, and they popped right ...
