More miscellaneous stuff.....
'I keep learning more about my project from the logs and digging into more crates of stuff. My struts are like new and they should be too. They were replaced back in 1973 and since that time they only had about 50 hours put on them. The logs do show reference to an approved 337 form to install all a...

a new 5 cylinder, 220lb radial of 125, 150, or 180 hp
'We were over to George Coy's place two weeks ago. Quite the place and George is quite the guy. Very patient and really took his time to show me what he does and how things work. What interested me so much for my project was the M14D radial which is a somewhat detuned, ungeared radial producing abou...

Re: F24 fuselage stringers
'Early Christmas indeed. Thanks for the lead on the spare parts. No quick release doors and I don't see the three lights under the belly either. I think the plane was pretty much demilitarized after WW2 and then flipped from owner to owner since. I'm not that sharp when it comes to web sites etc. bu...

Re: More (very) miscellaneous stuff
'Giday, Al. The plane's mostly apart right now so I've no idea what the weight might come out like after the rebuild but 1,800 + sounded high. I don't see any bomb racks laying around either. I'll be real weight conscious on the rebuild though and will try to keep the engine weight down with the dir...

More (very) miscellaneous stuff
'Some more drivel from my findings today on my new purchase. A nice letter from Theron Rinehart of the Fairchild Republic Company of Hagerstown dated Feb 16, 1983 confirmed that DAE was indeed one of a batch of 509 UC-61A aircraft built for the US AAC under contract W-535-ac-28355. Ser no. 43-14413....

Re: F24 fuselage stringers
'Thanks for the congrats, Jim. I haven't gotten into the books long enough to find the mod for the aluminum stringers. We did check today and it looks as if we have aluminum stringers all round the fuselage though. It took most of the day to get the engine off and as the weather's been real good, we...

F24 fuselage stringers
'Lads my F24 ( in need of full restoration ) arrived today and I can't say how please I am to have it. The right wing is shot as was indicated by the seller but the fuselage is in great shape. One thing I noticed was that someone else had his hand in some restoration earlier and contrary to what I s...

Ops manual
'Giday, John. looks like I'm going to become a Fairhchilder sooner than expected. I've got a very rebuildable 24W coming from British Columbia getting shipped tomorrow. I would very much like to buy an Ops manual too. I can't remember if you take paypal or not but if so, I could get you the money fa...
