Preoiling a Ranger

'My Ranger has sat for many years, so I think it wise to pressurize the system before starting it, or even turning the engine over to time the mags. I have a good electric external pump that will do the job, but where is a good access to the oil distribution gallery to oil the crank and rod and ...

Re: American Airman magazine

'The F-24 articles from the April 1959 issue of American Airman have
been posted in the Files section. Look for the file labeled "F-24
Articles".
Some of the photos are so-so quality, but that is what the originals
look like too.'

Re: American Airman magazine

'The idea of scanning the Fairchild related American Airman articles is
great. I need to convince my scanner to start talking to my computer
again, then I'll scan the pertinent articles and post them on this
group's site.

I'll hang on to the March issue, since I'm working on a PT, and pass ...

American Airman magazine

'I recently came across a set of 1959 American Airman magazines. I
wanted the March issue for its articles on the Fairchild PT series.
The other issues I'll pass on to whoever would like them.

The April 1959 (Vol II, Number 8) issue has a 4 page article on the
"The Fairchild 24", and another 9 ...

Re: Curiosity killed the â?¦ got me in trouble.

'Thanks for the feedback Mike.

My thought was to keep the socket wired into the circuit as that would
be an easy way to attach a trickle charger to keep the battery up if
the plane wasn't flown much. I'll figure out another strategy to do
that. I've never seen one of the mating plugs so had a ...

Re: Digest Number 1820

'The Fairchild external plug is a bit like an overgrown plug for a 110
volt wall socket, only the 2 prongs are rods, one 3/8 inch diameter,
the other 5/16 inch diameter. They are spaced about 1 1/4 inch
center-to-center, and are each about 1 1/4 inch long.

Buhwana - does this sound like what ...

Curiosity killed the ? got me in trouble.

'I'm starting to figure out the wiring for the PT-26 I've been
restoring. During that process I got curious about the condition and
inner workings of the plug/switch that allows an external power source
to be plugged in. My parts books don't have a description or number
for this plug/switch. The ...

Wood glue update and battery surprise

'Thank you all for the helpful feedback. As usual a question to this
newsgroup pays off again.

Out of curiosity I started down the FAA path to find an answer for a
Resorcinol glue alternative that has the FAAs blessing - somewhat like
Resorcinol has had in the past (i.e. no questions asked if ...

Wood glue

'I've finally run out of the Resorcinal glue I've been using, and now
find that no one wants to sell it anymore. Seems it contains a
carcinogenic component and at least Aircraft Spruce is not handling it
any more. Possibly due to state and/or federal mandated restrictions,
but I'm not sure of ...

Re: PT-19/23/26 Parts

'I am looking for a tachometer for my PT-26 restoration. Preferably one that has the
drive at a 45 deg angle. Do you have on in your leftover items?
