Re: Russian or Chinese Radial on F24W?
'It does seem that the Russian/Chinese radials are a bit big for the F-24. However, the WHY? questions are answerable. Perhaps the parts supply is still OK for the 165, not so much for the 145. Perhaps the 165 as well in time. I was wondering about the Rotec radial, just how do-able that might be. I...

Re: Fuel Caps
'It's interesting, and I believe valid. In this particular case, the tank had not been refilled, had plenty of fuel, and when inspected after the event I could see that there was a venting problem. Fixed same, ops OK. Simply put, I'm just wondering if anyone has replaced this cap, and with what? Bil...

'Tom: I'm terribly sorry to hear that. Your plane was beautiful, and and inspiration to a lot of us. Hate to see anyone give up, but it is easy to understand why you came to that conclusion. Circumstances are making this endeavor tougher all the time. Bill McClure -----Original Message----- From: To...

Re: Warner 145
'Unknown quantity. Depends on what the engine log looks like, particularly the last "overhaul". My experience is that some of that documentation is sketchy at best. Looks like new, good quality, known entity overhauled engines are going for around $30 K, at least before recession. Not many...

Re: Graphite Grease substitute
'Along this line, maybe someone could provide some insight. In my 24, I have always had a odd sort of squeek coming from the left wing when actuating the ailerons. I was able to see (with difficulty) that the source of the sound is a felt pad around the aileron push/pull tube, where it rubs a bit. T...

Re: Warner Oil Consumption
'I'm running a 145 Warner in the 24G. Aftere many "adventures", my Holloway engine is using, well, almost no oil at all. Maybe a qt between oil changes (around 25 hours). I know it seems hard to believe, but true. We used maybe the last Warner four ring pistons available out there, and Al ...

'Thanks very much. Kind of evaluating the idea right now, don't know if it would help the drag an awful lot, but it might. I will be back to you. Remember your Staggerwing at Camarillo when I was based out that way. Had one myself there, but after you, I believe. Bill -----Original Message----- From...
