Re: Sun n Fun anyone ?

'I have been at SNF for the past 2 years but will be unable to make it
down this year. The Antique BBQ dinner is excellent. There isn't any
structure to the club there but you can pick out the Fairchilds from
the crowd and the pilots aren't usually too far away.'

Re: Main gear oleo packing renewal,F24

'When we were working on the gear of mine, we used an engine hoist to support the load. We used an industrial tie-down webbing wrapped around the wing struts just above the oleo but we only worked on one side at a time. Hope this helps. Re: Looking for info

'Karl, I don't know how I missed your first e-mail. Tom covered most of your questions earlier. I thought I would add my performance specs. I have a 1940 24W-40 with the Warner 165 with an Aeromatic propeller and I find that I get between 100 mph TAS in the summer and 115 mph TAS in the winter (I am...

Fairchild 24 aileron hinge bearings

'Hello all, I am looking for a replacement aileron hinge ball bearing for my 24W-40. Approx. dimensions are .687OD and .250ID by .300. It does not appear to be a standard bearing and is not carried by Spruce or Univair. Does anyone have one of these or know where to get one? Regards, Bradley Bormuth...

Fairchild 24 tail wheel cable tension

'What is the tail wheel tension supposed to be to the tail wheel assembly? The manual says 51lbs for the rudder but is that the same for the tail wheel? Also, I am getting some pretty severe tail wheel shimmy on landing and everything in the tail wheel assembly seems to be tight - no movement. I kno...

Re: Annual inspection checklist Fairchild -24

'That is a good checklist for the 145 Warner but I was wondering if anyone has something similar for the 165 Warner and/or and additional points of inspection for the airframe especially during the annual. P.S. - If anyone is still looking for the checklists, they are now in the files section of the...

Radio Noise

'I am having a problem with radio interference but only on the receiving end. It sounds to me like spark noise (lower frequency noise at maybe an estimated 10 times per second that varies with engine rpm). As far as I can tell, it has always been there and I was hoping that it would go away when we ...
