Re: Bronze fuel strainer valve.

'? Hi David, For what it is worth, I had a 46 F-24 and the fuel stringer valve leaked like you mentioned. Not a drip, drip, but a constant moist seeping type thing. I dismembered it and used some valve grinding compound (fine) that I had and cured it in about 20 minutes. Maybe you have a bigger leak ...

Re: F24 Door stops?

'Yeah, I had something similar on mine with the spring loaded clips on the struts and the arrow shaped for inserting into the clips on the doors. They didn't hold worth a darn so I took them off. They look like bathroom medicine cabinet door holders.

Re: aircraft search

'I guess I generated a little interest with my blurb on Len Povey. He was quite a guy apparently and there is a fair amount of information on him if you Google the good gentleman.

I had heard he started Batista's air force but according to the info, it sounds like he more like resurrected it ...

Re: aircraft search

'Mr. Etter,

I would like to verify the probability of the E addition to the N (NC) number of the Fairchild was because the CAA sold it to the civilian market.

I once had the last Ryan STA built (SN 355) that was built in the middle of an early run of what I assume to be the PT-20s It was built ...

Re: Potential Ranger Engine for Fokker DVII Project

'John Ferrero (J&C Aircraft Engines) converted one for a Bristol Fighter (I think it was) replica. John is working his way out of the business - getting old like me - but he knows how to upright a Ranger.

Oil Filters

'Sorry for the missing info. The Wolf filter was put on a 1946 F-24R with a 200 Ranger.

As I remember I got a copy of the 337 from Wolf. I can dig mine out if necessary - I think.

Fw: [fairchildclub] F-24 Oil Filter Update

'I put a Wolf spin on filter on my 24 a few years back and it
was done with a 337. No problems encountered.

Re: magneto misfiring

'I had one go bad from a bad condenser. Doubtful if both would go bad at the same time though.

They are pretty easy to check generally with an analog VOM.
